Volunteer Opportunities

Where You Can Serve

The Gift Shop at St. James Healthcare is staffed entirely by volunteers, as is the Front Information Desk. Desk attendants assist clerks in admitting patients, and in getting patients and visitors where they need to go. The hospital also has volunteer opportunities in  Food Services,  Human Resources, the Business Office, Medical Records, Medical Staff Office, Surgery, and the Emergency Department.

In addition, the hospital's Auxiliary delivers mail and newspapers (courtesy of Marquis Vintage Suites Assisted Living) to patients. The Auxiliary also makes blankets for patients in the hospital's Child Evaluation Center.

Annual Auxiliary Events

The Auxiliary has three luncheons during the year, and sponsors various fundraising activities.These activites and Gift Shop sales allow the Auxiliary to purchase needed equipment for hospital departments.

The group also awards seven $1000 scholarships each year, and tends to the Book of Memories, which honors the deceased through memorial donations.

Auxiliary Officers

Auxiliary officers for 2008 are: Cathy Sullivan, president; J Judy Evans, first vice president; Eva Johnson, second vice president; Helen Maichel, treasurer; Jo Ann Lewis, assistant treasurer; Margie Thompson, recording secretary, and Alice Peterson, corresponding secretary.

Other members of the Auxiliary board are: Donna Babcock, Nancy Beauchamp, Ramona Clark, Myrtle Corder, Mary DeGeorge, Eva Johnson, Marie Lappin, Jo Ann Lewis, Helen Maichel, Dorothy Mandic, Maureen Pennel, Alice Peterson, Doris Quinn, Diane Sholey, Ann Slavensky, Cathy Sullivan, Kris Sullivan, Margie Thompson, Lillian Tokle, and Norma White. Ex-officio board members are St. James Healthcare President & Chief  Executive Officer Bain J. Farris, and  Jeanne Tanner, the Auxiliary's immediate past president.
