Healthy schools make Silver Bow County enticing for family life. The city provides a very strong educational support system. Butte also is home to Montana Tech of the University of Montana, listed recently by U.S. News & World Report as one of the nation's best small colleges.

Many of Montana's blue-ribbon trout are found in rivers that surround Butte. The Madison, Big Hole, Missouri, Beaverhead and Jefferson rivers head the list of the area's best-known rivers. Popular area lakes include the Clark Canyon Reservoir, Georgetown Lake, Canyon Ferry, Hauser Lake and Holter Lake.
The area features four federally protected wilderness areas and several national forests that offer hiking, camping, horseback riding and fishing. These areas include the Anaconda-Pintler Wilderness, the Gates of the Mountains Wilderness, the Scapegoat Wilderness and the Bear Trap Canyon.
Area features include many golf courses, such as the Old Works Golf Course, Montana's only Jack Nicklaus-signature golf course. The Old Works is located 20 minutes west of Butte. Other area attractions include the luxurious Fairmont Hot Springs Resort, Yellowstone National Park and Glacier National Park. In addition, we are located near numerous Ski Resorts.

The Arts Chateau a turn of the century mansion and art gallery. This wonderful edifice, a copy of a château in France, was built by Copper Baron William A. Clark as a wedding present for his son.

The World Museum of Mining a national historical site dedicated to preserving the mining, ethnic, and social history of Butte.

Our Lady of the Rockies, erected in December 1985, this 80-ton, 90-foot tall statue was placed atop the Continental Divide with Sikorsky helicopters. She now stands at 8,510 feet above sea level — 3,500 feet above Butte. The huge monument to mothers everywhere rivals the Statue of Liberty in her dimensions.
Summer brings many terrific family activities in Butte including a weekly farmers' market, outdoor concerts at various parks around town and a weekly Lunch in the Park program providing musical entertainment and offerings from favorite Butte eating establishments. And if you think you love a parade, wait until you see the people in Butte lining the streets no matter what the weather for the Chinese New Year, St. Patrick's Day, the Fourth of July, and Montana Tech Homecoming parades.
